1500+ square feet of glass saved in Rancho Santa Fe, Ca
A lot of scratched glass on this one! Here’s what happened…
wood grids were originally installed over 50+ large panels of glass on a newly constructed residence in Rancho Santa Fe, Ca. After the wood was installed it was sanded (along with the glass next to it…OOPS!) This caused 4 “lines” of scratches that covered the entire length of each window (both sides to boot!)
Initially the wood hid the scratches, but a design change at the end of construction required the wood grids to be removed, revealing the unpleasant surprise… thousands of square feet of expensive glass ruined!
By the time it was noticed the homeowner had already moved in. Both he and the builder were skeptical about resurfacing at first, especially having had poor experiences with glass restoration attempts by another company in the past.
Glass Savers was given the opportunity to perform a demo of our scratch removal process so they could see for themselves the difference in results between amateurs using a glass scratch removal kit they purchased online and someone with over 10 years experience who’s used numerous so called “Professional grade kits”. None of those kits are part of out process any longer, rather we keep a full arsenal of custom made tools/polishing compounds on hand so we can be ready at moments notice for any unique situation that comes our way.
Needless to say the demo passed with flying colors. Glass Savers got the job (despite not being the lowest bidder). Additionally, this project was completed in a fraction of the time both competing companies estimated it would take.
When the end result is critical, it’s wise to do your research. Make sure the service providers you are considering are willing to do a side by side demo with Glass Savers. Most will shy away from this. Make sure to see the difference yourself before you commit! I’ve seen hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of glass ruined by repair attempts gone wrong.
A lot of new “glass polishing service” companies pop up each year only to disappear 1-2 years later. Most of them are well aware of who we are because we’re the ones they attempt to copy (even to the point of using our images and copying and pasting our testimonials and swapping out our name with theirs… Seriously! But that’s a topic for another post)
Glass Savers has been specializing in glass resurfacing for over 10 years now. It’s all we do. It’s not an add on service for us. And we haven’t had to pivot to other services to survive (window films, window cleaning, stainless steel restoration etc). Most of our work comes from referrals these days and there is a reason for that.
